Some bunnies making an appearance

A cold and windy day yesterday, Max and I got blown along on our morning walk.  As I didn't go down to Scrapbook Magic it meant I had some time to sit in the warmth of my house and work on the baby sampler.  I have almost completed one of the corner motifs where two cute little bunnies are resting - perhaps they are taking shelter from the winter wind.

I received the Winter copy of Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher throught the post today which I browsed through while enjoying a break from stitching and warming my hands with a nice cup of coffee.  There are a couple of lovely designs in there from some of my favourite primitive designers - The Snowflower Diaries and Nikyscreations.  More designs to add to my stitching list LOL.

Reading Material

I was reading a book... 'the history of glue' - I couldn't put it down. Tim Vine

I finished the Valentine's Card last month so I chose this one to read from my collection of purchases last month.  Again it's by an author I had not heard of before and I am just a few chapters in and so far it's been keeping me interested.  I'm hoping I will like it as it came as part of a two book pack and so I have the next book lined up in the series to read.

I have almost completed Lamentation at work, I think that will be finished in the next couple of weeks so my reading is going well this year.

Short and sweet from me today as I am feeling a little under the weather, so much so I didn't feel up to making the journey down to Scrapbook Magic :(

One man's trash.....

My friend has been having a bit of a sort out and was going to get rid of two decorative storage holders - I was more than happy to take them off her hands and use them to store my collection of jars in.

All I have to do now is decide which wall to ask DH to put them on in the craft room.

I managed to do a little bit of stitching before going into work this morning - the heron from Joyful World is now wading in some water.

It's going to be a busy week so I'm not sure how much time I will actually have for stitching this week but any spare time must be devoted to the baby sampler.

My favourite haunts

Haunt - noun
A place frequented by a specified person:

Yesterday I spent the first half of Mother's Day having my nails painted and enjoying a relaxing facial.  I also spent a little time going into some of my favourite haunts which mainly consists of the following shops - Cath Kidson, Paperchase, Monsoon Accessorize and Waterstones - anything to do with bags, stationery or books.

In the afternoon I was lucky enough to see all my children and grandchildren who brought around some lovely cards and gifts.  We enjoyed some time playing with Lego and with the teaset.

Late afternoon I enjoyed seeing the end of the Andy Murray match and what a match - well done Andy and well done team GB.

Mother-in-law came and enjoyed Sunday dinner with us so all in all a truly relaxing and enjoyable Mother's Day for me.

It was a busy day which left no time for stitching, this will be the first Sunday I think that I haven't been able to work on the Cornwall Cottage Sampler but I was too tired despite it being a relaxing day to pick up needle and thread.  I didn't want to risk making any  mistakes.

Happy Mother's Day

My Mother Kept A Garden
My Mother kept a garden,
a garden of the heart,
She planted all the good things
that gave my life it's start.
She turned me to the sunshine
and encouraged me to dream,
Fostering and nurturing
the seeds of self-esteem...
And when the winds and rain came,
she protected me enough-
But not too much because she knew
I'd need to stand up strong and tough.
Her constant good example
always taught me right from wrong-
Markers for my pathway
that will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother's garden.
I am her legacy-
And I hope today she feels the love
reflected back from me

I left making the Mother's Day cards until yesterday evening - big mistake.  My initial idea didn't come out how I hoped so I had to clear my mind and start all over again.  In the end I used a few stamp sets from Stampin' Up!, some punches, dies and embossing folders and created this design.

The outside of the card is on the left but I decorated the inside too which can be seen on the left.  I always make the same card design for each mum, makes life slightly easier for me. The colour scheme came from the gift bag I had bought to put their present in so the card would co-ordinate.  I really do need to get back into my card making again and then perhaps the ideas will come easier.

Happy Mother's Day to all mum's celebrating today.

Bear in a pram

Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another. John Dewey

Well, I've managed to complete my first goal for March and finished one of the large motifs.  We now have a bear in a pram.

Just two more motifs to go and then I can finish off with the french knots and wording.

Today is Colette's baby shower, just a month to go now until her due date.  When Harlee-Jay's sampler is finished I will have to make a start on another one for Colette's new arrival.

Joyful World

I made a start on March's Joyful World and have managed to complete the Heron on this piece so far.

Before I can do anymore I must complete another motif on the baby sampler.  I have made a start on the middle motif which I hope to get finished today.
